Chandigarh, Dec 14 – Coming down heavily on liquor mafia, Haryana Police have seized 414 boxes of illicit IMFL and country made liquor from a tractor-trolley from adjoining Punjab border area in district Sirsa and arrested one people in this connection. The seized liquor was being illegally transported to Punjab.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that arrested accused had been identified as Balkar Singh, a resident of Jajal, district Bathinda, Punjab.
During preliminary interrogation, accused revealed that he had brought liquor from Dabwali and was to be illegally transported to supply it in upcoming panchayat elections in Punjab. The seized liquor was ordered by Krishan of Talwandi Sabo and Jagdev Singh of Jajal in Punjab.
Divulging the details about seizure, he said that a police team of Dabwali, stopped a tractor-trolley at a blockade near village Habuana adjoining Punjab. When searched, police found 394 boxes of illicit country made liquor and 20 boxes of IMFL from the vehicle.
A case under relevant sections of IPC and Excise Act had been registered against three accused and further investigation is under process.
